I have just caught up on some mobile technology news and found a new iPhone app coming out soon called QuickerFeet.

I am intrigued by the development of mobile location based advertising and the whole concept of ‘pinging’ people in an area to send them vouchers, coupons, gifts etc. Their example suggests “health food store could tweet a coupon for a smoothie to a ”prospect” who has just tweeted they are at a nearby gym.” Good idea! Just imagine if you have a restaurant and a quiet evening – wouldn’t you want the chance to grab a few more customers who might be in the area thinking about having a meal?

Of course this isn’t a new concept. Sandwich boards have been around a long time informing shoppers of latest offers, what’s going on, new promotions in the area but I think this might rival Facebook adverts.

It will all come down to cost. The QuickerFeet App will be free. The website suggests $4.95 per advert to retailers (more if a one-off) – about £3.20 currently.

I’m going to follow their Twitter to see how it goes.
